Jazz is actually owned by the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre (TRC) but I’ve had him on their loan scheme for six years now. Jazz’s past history is relatively unknown apart from he was bred and trained as a racehorse and between that and ending up at the TRC he had lots of different owners. When I got him from Carrie Humble at the TRC he was still very underweight and was generally uninterested about life. However despite his issues he let me ride him at the centre and he seemed a genuinely nice horse (and anyone that knows me knows I’m a sucker for a rescue case!). Jazz wasn’t an easy horse to ride because he used to get very emotional when ridden and he would run off with me. These days we can do things that I never dreamed I could ever do, especially not on Jazz anyway! This horse has taught me so much and he has a very special place in my heart. My thanks go out to Carrie Humble at the TRC for helping me to find this special friend.
Jazz had a nasty hock injury earlier on in the year, which he has recovered well from and is just getting back into work. I absolutely love riding this horse, he has taught me so much and I’m sure will continue to teach me every time I ride him. I feel very lucky to have had the pleasure of knowing him.
